Necklace for Your Belly

Let me just ask, when you read the title of this post, do you have ANY idea where it's going??

Do you think...

"Is she bringing belly chains back?

If so, you'd be wrong.

It all began yesterday...

Gwen and I had just woken up from our naps {yes, I napped too, don't hate} and we needed to head out to the grocery store for a few dinner supplies.  Now, Gwen usually naps pantless, with her SleepSack on.  Me, I nap, no NOT pantless, lol, but usually in a comfy pair of sweats and a tee or tank.  Therefore, before we could leave the house, we definitely needed to change clothes, or in Gwen's case, put some clothes on.

Gwen was first, got some pantelones on her, threw her Crocs on real quick, and she was ready to go.  She then followed me into my room to "help" me get dressed {which really only means that she watches and says, "Oh, Momma I love your dress/shirt/hair"}.

Now, a side note... I change in front of Gwen, not like in my birthday suit kind of change, but a quick change of clothes in front of her is something that I see NO harm in doing.

So, as I am changing my top, and looking for a replacement, Gwen say's, "What's that Momma?"

Jeez... I am half naked, and my child wants to know "What's that?"  This should be interesting...

"What's what, baby?"

"This?" she says as she comes over and points to my bra.

My first thought was, Oh, thank God!  This situation could have been waaaaay worse, lol.  And my second thought was, how do I explain this to a two and a half year old.

I am happy to say that she figured out her own explanation way before I had one for her.

"Is that a necklace... for your belly?"

I died.  I couldn't control my laughter.

Let me just say, that my "tatas" are NOT in the belly region, yet, lol.  I mean I am still in my 20's {barely}.  So, I think that bc Gwen does not really know the name of the "chest" area, she went with the closest region she could name.

And after composing myself, I smiled and said, "Yes, sweetie, it's a necklace for my belly."

I know that one day, I'll have to explain the real purpose and names of all of these things, but for now, I am going to enjoy and embrace my toddler's way of seeing things.

Happy Friday!!!!  We have nothing planned this weekend, so I have my man and my little lady all to myself.  Yay!!  These plan free days are few and far between, so I dare not waste them.

Summery Social Sunday... On a Wednesday

This post was written and scheduled before the weekend even began, but I totally forgot to post it. :(  Sorry!  Better late than never, right?!?

Sunday Social

Best Summer memory as a kid?
Swimming in my grandparents pool all day, every day that we could.  My favorite was when all of us cousins would get to hang out at the pool... those were the days.

Favorite Summer Drink?
Golden Margarita on the rocks with salt.  Although, I try to stick to a SkinnyGirl Margarita instead... less calories = more drinks!

Favorite Summer TV Show?
Oh, Jeez... let's see, this summer it'll be True Blood, and of course my beotches The Real Housewives of New Jersey.  OH, and my newest love, Vanderpump Rules! How I love those crazies!

Best outdoor summer activity?
Being on the water.  On a boat.  At an outdoor restaurant.  At the beach.  On the boardwalk.  Just by the water.

Summer vacation essentials?
Family. Cocktails. A confident boosting yet comfortable bathing suit.

Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend!  I can't believe that Summer is finally here!

It's OK, For The Last Time.

Today is the last "It's OK" link up, so I figured I should participate.

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Ok...

...to barricade ourselves in the house when the forecast calls for POLLEN, POLLEN, and more POLLEN.

...to bitch about said pollen each year like it's something new, even though it happens every year.

...to let the TV and/or iPad entertain your toddler when she decides that 5:30am is an appropriate time to wake.  FYI, kiddo, it's not.

...to seriously be pumped for the new season of Real Housewives of New Jersey.  Can't wait to see those crazies back in action!

...that I need to turn off the news sometimes.  SO many scary and sad things happening in the world, sometimes it's too much to handle.

...to put salt on my watermelon... yeah, thanks Pinterest... I'm now addicted.

...to take ridiculous amounts of pics of my child.  Hey, she's pretty freakin' adorable.

See what I mean?!?!

Here's a few more iPhone pics of my pigtailed beauty at her Daddy's softball game.

That's her Daddy playing shortstop. :)

It's About Time.

It only took 2 years and 8+ months, but it has finally happened...

Gwen has pigtails!

She is no longer a baldy beauty... she's a big girl!!

Let me tell you what a struggle this was... it involved a time out and a bribe of M&M's. {don't judge me}

But, afterwards, she was SO proud of herself!  She kept twirling her head around and around, saying "Look, Mommy/Daddy, I so beautiful!"

Melt. My. Heart.

And yes, I am aware that they are not the "best" pigtails, but it's a start!

Isn't she the CUTEST?!?!

A Lesson In Gwen-ese

It's pretty common that every toddler has that in between phase of language that is clearer than just baby babble, but not quite understood by all yet.  And Gwen is no exception.  Although we are closer to the clear side of things, she still has some words and phrases that she uses and most don't understand.

Her "Crocodiles" - means her Crocs.  Lol, yes, not that far off, but when she is asking you to find her Crocodiles for her, don't panic... we are a reptile free household.

"doh-doh" - means Play-doh.  I actually love this one.  She calls it that because on the commercials, the jingle is "Play-doh doh doh, doh, doh doh, doh."  Therefore, we've dropped the Play and picked up an extra doh.

"I love your haircut" - just means she loves your hair.  I don't know why she added the cut part, but she did.  When I finish drying my hair every morning, she says, "Mom, you done with your haircut?"  Makes me smile.

"Take a bathtub" - just a bath.  But, she's partially correct, she is in the bathtub.

She also still call things by different names:

"Apples" = Could be Apples or Grapes.  We're getting better, I mean she used to call every fruit {except bananas} "apples"

"Cuh-cake" = Donut

"Sandwich" = Yellow American Cheese.  Hey, at least she dropped the "Turkey" part

She is definitely getting clearer each day, but for most people that aren't around her all the time, I am forever the translator... or they just stare at her and smile.

I'm sure that I'll miss Gwen-ese when it's gone, just like I miss the baby babble... but for now, I'll just be fluent in it.

My Blogging Break... Is Now Over

I really  wish that I had a legitimate reason for my absence.  But, the truth is peeps, I don't.  I mean, I can give you a bunch of tiny reasons, that all add up to one thing... Me not writing.  Or reading.  Yeah, it's true, I am so beyond in all my blog reading, I suck.  But, I'll catch up.

So, what's been going on in this little life of ours?

Well, my angel faced toddler is DEEP in the "NO!!!" stage.  Full on, dirty look, I'm not doing what you say no matter what you do type ish.  And when I say, "Do you need a time out?"  You know what that kid of mine says?!?!?  "Yes."  She WANTS the time out, because OBVI it's better than doing what Mom wants me to.  AHHHH!!! Who is this child?!?!

Let's just say that it has been exhausting.

Not to mention that we have had something to do EVERY. SINGLE. WEEKEND. since April and won't be stopping until probably August, maybe.  Parties, weddings, showers, etc.  If you'd like to plan something with us, I think we have something open in September... I'll pencil you in now.  Lol.

So, what else?

Minus the sassiness that has infected my child, she is EVER growing and maturing and learning.  Her vocabulary sometimes leaves us with our jaws on the floor like, "What did she just say?!?"  or "Are two and a half year olds SUPPOSED to know that?!?!"  She's a pretty amazing little tike.

During my break, I also turned 29.  Eeeek!  Yes, on May 1st, I began the last year of my 20's.  It was a relaxing day, with my two favorite people.  We went to dinner at our favorite restaurant, and then cuddled up in bed for some family movie time.  Let me tell you, it does not get better than that.  Just doesn't.  And it's those moments that make approaching the big 3-0, not a big deal to me.  I have so much to be grateful for in my life that didn't exist when I was entering my 20's.  Not to mention that I am pretty sure I can kick 30's ass!  But, that's a whole year away and I'll deal with it when I get there.

And of course there was Mother's Day... but I'll save that for another post.
