Mommy-to-Be Quiz @ 24 Weeks!

  • How far along? 24 Weeks (6 months)
  • Total weight gain/loss:  About 5 lbs, not bad, but def will be gaining more...
  • Maternity Clothes:  I have more Maternity pants than shirts, and dresses.  But, the pants still don't fit me exactly right.  Thank goodness for the warm weather, because I am now enjoying all my comfy non-maternity sundresses! :)

  • Stretch Marks:  I really should just delete this part of the questionnaire!!!

  • Sleep:  I have now realized just how dependant I am on my Boppy.  I went one weekend without it, and my nights were miserable!  I'm very sorry Boppy, I will never leave you home again!

  • Best Moment This Week:  Receiving our new curtain and LOVING it!  And buying paint for Gwen's room... Pink Destiny and Greenhouse Tint.  Can't wait to start painting, well actually can't wait until Jason starts painting (b/c I can't).

  • Movement:  So much!  I think it is hysterical that she seems to like getting up as early as Wiley!  5am he is whining to go out, and she is dancing away... If only they could let Mama sleep in every once in a while ;)

  • Food Cravings:  Watermelon, and other fruits, but I am staring right now at two huge watermelons waiting to be cut and devoured!  And sweet corn still, but who can resist sweet Jersey corn?!?

  • Labor Signs:  Nope

  • Belly Button:  Still an innie, and still have my belly button ring in (holding on to it as long as I can).  But my belly button definitely is changing... I'll take a pic this week of my belly from the front and not just the side, and you can be the judge.

  • What I Miss:  Being able to eat from the Raw Bar.  There is nothing like good clams on the half shell in the summer... but I'll just make up for it next summer, or even right after Gwen's arrival.

  • What I am Looking Forward To:  Painting and putting the crib together finally.  I can't wait to see her room start to come together, just means that we are one step closer to meeting our little girl!

  • Weekly Wisdom:  I learned this from my Mom at a very young age, and I never thought that this would be the time that it would be most useful but, USE THE BATHROOM BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE. Haha.  There's nothing like being stuck in traffic, preggo, and having an extremely full bladder!

  • Milestones:  6 months pregnant;  Deciding on a scheme for the nursery, and buying paint;  Getting our crib.

  • What is the Baby Up To?  Gwen's skin is becoming more opaque as the fat starts to pack on.  And, thanks to the formation of small capillaries, her newly thick skin is taking on a fresh pink glow.  She is now the size of a Papaya!

Dr. Appt, Crib, & Memorial Day Weekend

This past Wednesday was our monthly checkup.  Or should we say it was Wiley's Dr. Appt.  We brought our little pup to meet Dr. P (per her request) and boy was he a hit!!!  We think that our doctor is wonderful, but are pretty sure she missed her calling as a Vet. :)

So after all the oohing and aahing over Wiley, it was time to talk about Gwen & Mommy.  Turns out I only gained another pound and half, a total gain of five pounds from my starting weight.  I definitely do not feel that way, I mean the weight gain in my bra alone feels like 5-10 lbs.  But, she said that this is about the time that I will start to gain because the baby will really start to put on weight soon.  Hopefully, I will keep my gain to my belly, and not everywhere else!

I did ask her about a sore spot that I occasionally feel right about my belly button, which was starting to make me worry.  But, after examining me, she said that we are both fine and that the tender area was most likely due to Gwen growing, or even her putting pressure there.  I was very relieved...  As I have pointed out before, I am a bit of a hypochondriac, so I tend to dwell on even the most minor health issues.

Gwen's heartbeat was 150.  And she is moving more and more every day!  Our next appt. is near the end of June, and that will be the day of my Glucose Test (which is a whole different post in itself).  Hope all goes well!

Although we have not received the new curtain that I ordered yet, we DID receive our crib!!!!  Yay!  It looks adorable,  but it is still in pieces until we paint :(  I can't even enter Gwen's room right now, because I want to put it together so badly!

Here are some pics!

This weekend Gwen & I got some much needed Vitamin D and had our first trip out to Tice's!  What a different experience being pregnant out on the water on Memorial Day Weekend, but it was still great!  We are now completely pooped, a little sun burnt, and enjoying a relaxing day inside with my boys.

I did make the mistake of not bringing my Boppy with me for the weekend... let me assure you that I will NEVER leave home without it again!  I was so uncomfortable!  Boppy and I have happily reunited and are bonding as we speak.  I'm a happy girl!

I would just like to take a sec. to say how great Jason was this weekend (I know, how mushy).  He was a very thoughtful and concerned Dad, not that I expected anything less, but it was just so nice of him.  He really made sure that Gwen & I were taken care of this weekend, and it is greatly appreciated!

Here are some updated belly pics Jason took today.  I am 23 weeks and 4 days preggo, almost 6 months.  Wow!

Hope that you all had wonderful and safe Memorial Day Weekend!
Our love to you.

Mommy-to-be Quiz @ 22 Weeks!

  • How far along? 22 Weeks

  • Total weight gain/loss: I will find out Wednesday, although I don't think that I am doing too bad. Wish me luck :)

  • Maternity clothes: Still rockin the BeBand religiously. I have a been stocking up on sundresses (non-maternity), and if the weather stays as nice as it has been I will be able to wear them soon!

  • Stretch Marks: No habla ingles... yes, I am avoiding the topic ;)

  • Sleep: Doing well. That Boppy is magical, I REALLY think that Jason wants one for himself. But he knows better than to lay a hand on mine!!!!

  • Best moment this week: Jason being able to feel a few of Gwen's kicks and movements... and hearing him talk to her. He told her that he can't wait to meet her :) He is going to be an amazing dad! I feel so lucky to have him by my side through this journey, I couldn't imagine my life without him! >

  • Movement: Tons! She is a very active baby. I love all the movement, feeling her in there. I think that she will definitely be a dancer, my mom said that about me too when I was in her belly.

  • Food Cravings: Nothing in particular this week, but did enjoy sweet corn on the cob a few times this week. Mmmmm summer is on its way!

  • Gender: Girl!

  • Labor Signs: Not yet, ask me again in about 125 days.

  • Belly Button: Still an innie, but I think I may end up with an outie!

  • What I miss: I know this may be TMI, but I miss being able to go bra-less... These things are huge and I'm convinced they have a mind of their own. Ha Ha! I have to keep them caged 90 percent of the time!!!

  • What I am Looking Forward To: Seeing the NEW print that we ordered for her room... Really, REALLY hope that we like it! Scratch that, LOVE it!

  • Weekly Wisdom: Never settle, if you do YOU are the only one who loses.

  • Milestones: 22 weeks. Jason being able to feel his little girl move around, it makes us both smile.

  • What is the Baby Up To? At 11 inches and almost 1 pound, Gwen is starting to look like a miniture newborn. Her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct. She's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath her gums.

Love you all.

Decor Dilemma

Right now I feel as though we are at a stand still... grrr. 2 weeks ago, we were sure that we had found THE decor we wanted for Gwen's room, but just to be sure (and to match the paint) we ordered a window valance in the print we liked. It arrived last Wednesday, and let's just say... We're not in love. :( We absolutely loved the colors and the brightness, but the graphics were, well, cheap looking. So it's back to Babies R Us the valance goes... and it was back to the drawing board for us. We have found another design that we love, or at least love it on paper, just hoping that we love it as much in person when it arrives. I think what is really paining us is that we won't be able to start painting until we have a set scheme. Have I said Grrrrrrr yet?!?! I guess that we should just be happy that we didn't order the ENTIRE set before realizing it wasn't the one for us, or Gwen. Let's hope that second time's a charm, not third, or fourth for that matter. But we will do whatever it takes to make Gwen's nursery perfect, however long it takes! Lots of love to you.

Who's kicking in there?

Sorry that we haven't blogged in a while, but life has been SO busy! Last weekend we finally cleared out the baby's room! Yay! We fit all the furniture into the borrowed pickup truck and drove it down to its new home! Although we looked like hillbillies driving down the parkway, it was worth it because of all the progress we've made!!!

Monday we went to Meadowlands Hospital for our second ultrasound, and the u/s technician gave us the great news that it is Miss Gwen who is doing all that moving and kicking in my belly! That's right, we are having a girl! Her full name will be Gwenyth Cynthia Jasovsky, but we will call her Gwen. Jason and I are so happy!

I also hit the 20 wk mark, half way there! Here is an updated belly pic:
We also went to Babies R Us this weekend to register. It was SO much fun for both of us. We spent about 2 1/2 hours or so in the store, and think we did a pretty good job choosing the best for our little girl. It is amazing how many things a tiny little baby needs, and we registered for them all! Or at least we hope :)
Here's my Mommy-To-Be Quiz for this week:
  • How far along? 20 wks! My little bun in the oven is half way baked!

  • Total weight gain/loss: At my last appt. (4/28) I was up a total of 3 lbs, but I have stopped weighing myself at home. I feel good and it doesn't really matter what I'm gaining/losing as long as Gwen is healthy!

  • Maternity Clothes: HATE THEM! Lol. I have recently bought a pair of Maternity Jeans, black pants, and khakis. And it was the most difficult time I have ever had buying clothes. They still do not fit correctly, and it was SO hard to find Small sizes, but they will do. I still have yet to find any shirts that are wearable for me, or Maternity dresses either. I have mostly been buying sundresses that have a little room for Gwen to grow.

  • Stretch Marks: STILL not talking about them...

  • Sleep: I have been sleeping really well, especially since I have purchased the Boppy!! It is a pregnancy pillow and is VERY comfortable. Although, Wiley still sticks to his schedule of waking at 5 am... at least we have good preparation for the years to come!

  • Best Moment of the Week: Finding out the sex! It is so nice to be able to call the baby by her name, it makes talking to her feel so much more natural and easy. And now we can begin shopping for Gwen!

  • Food Cravings: Still the same, have had buffalo chicken a lot lately. Still in the spicy family though.

  • Gender: GIRL!!!!!! It's so great to finally know!

  • Labor Signs: Only half way there, so not yet.

  • Belly Button In or Out? In, but I am almost convinced on it's way out.

  • What I Miss This Week: Nothing, I would give up anything right now for our little girl.

  • What I Am Looking Forward To: Painting Gwen's room... which will most definitely be documented and posted, don't you worry.

  • Weekly Wisdom: You can never be too prepared, because too often are we not prepared enough.

  • Milestones: 20 wks, finding out the gender, registering, and cleaning out the baby's room... I told you we have been busy!!! :)

What is the Baby Up To? Gwen is now the size of a cantaloupe. She gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for nutritional and to practice swallowing and digesting. And her taste buds are actually working these days. Hope she likes Spicy!

Hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day, lots of love to you all.

Dr. Visit Today

Today was our normal 4 wk check up, and everything is right on track. The results from the AFP (Alpha-feta protein) test, which tests for neural tube defects, can detect Downs Syndrome, among other things. All is negative! Yay! We also got to hear the baby's heartbeat again, still loud, fast, and strong. It is fun to have a audio remind of what is causing all that movement in my belly. :) I am also finally gaining a few pounds, 3 to be exact. Dr. P says that I am doing just fine in the weight gain dept, and reminded Jason that "Eating for Two" is really a fallacy. She says that I just need to eat until I am full... I made her tell Jason a few more times, just to make sure he understood. Lol. Other than that, we spent 3/4 of the time talking about our dogs, yes, our dogs. She has 2 Labs of her own, and she is as big a dog lover as we are! She has insisted from the day that we met her that we bring Wiley into the office, and we just brushed it off, not taking her seriously. But every visit we share our latest pics of our crazy little guy. Well, at the end of this visit she said, "I would REALLY like to meet him, will you PLEASE bring him in next visit." She even has the receptionist reminding us to bring him next time! So it looks like May 26th all 3 of us will be heading to see Dr. P!! My latest obsession are Rockabye Baby CDs!!!! I found them this weekend and they are Rock Songs, turn into lullabies... OMG they are so freakin cute!! Each CD features one artist/band, and they have Journey (NEED it), Dave Matthews Band (NEED it NOW), AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Bob Marley (Have to Have It), and many more. I want them all!!! :) I haven't bought any yet, but I only discovered them yesterday... so they will soon be in my possession! Here are two of the album covers:
Can't wait for Baby G to listen to them!
Our love to you all.
